Sweet at Bristol Design Festival
Sweet will be exhibiting at this years Bristol Design Festival, taking place between 13th and 17th June 2008. The exhibition will be held
at The Old Fire Station in the centre of Bristol and will show the work
of 150 designers from a wide variety of disciplines in over 10,000 ft
of exhibition space.

OK, so we’ve been a bit slack updating our news of late – probably, becausewe have been so busy doing other things. We’ve been working with BBC Wales producing a new publication to promote Radio Cymru called Lleisiau, and are due to start work on the next issue very soon. We’ve produced our first Sweet Little Book, which launched in December with a monkey and balloon installations. Recently, we were commissioned by Welsh Women’s Aid to re-brand the organisation, and by Design Wales to create a new digital newsletter styling and design. There’s no rest for the wicked!

Cardiff Design Festival 2007

Bilingual Design Awards 2007
We were chuffed to hear that we have been short listed for the 2007
Bilingual Design awards. The S4/C Autumn Schedule has been short listed in the Customer Promotion Category. The awards ceremony takes place on Tuesday 12 June at City Hall, Cardiff – fingers crossed!

Wales Millennium Centre
One of Wales’ top cultural landmarks, Wales Millennium Centre (WMC), has appointed Sweet, to overhaul its corporate identity. For this project we are working in collaboration with the Brand Strategist, and all round lovely person, Rachel Wood of Peach.

Wales Millennium Centre announced details of a two-phase rebranding project in November 2006. Phase one includes creating the brand identity and developing guidelines for internal and external use of the brand identity; these will be used across all of WMC’s business activities. On the back of winning this first phase, Sweet has also been awarded the second phase contract, which includes the redesign of WMC’s key marketing collateral.

The new brand identity is due to be launched in the Summer –

One your bike
Sweet has been commissioned to re-brand Welsh Cycling,
the internationally recognised governing body of cycling in
Wales. As we enjoy getting on our bikes from time to time,
this is one project we are really looking forward to.

Sunny Marbella
Sweet picked up two awards in the McNaughton Review 2006
awards, held in Marbella last weekend (March 10-11).

We had two wins, both in the ‘books’ category. These were a
Highly Commended for ‘Star Radio: A Topography of Place’
and Commended for G39 ‘Show One of Each’.

Viva Espagna!
We were delighted to hear that the Star Radio book has
been nominated for an award in the national design
awards hosted by McNaughtons Paper, the McNaughtons
Review, which will be held in Marbella on March 10th - 11th.

Yesterday evening saw the Eye Forum No.1 entitled
'Burning issues', which took place at the RSA House,
London WC2. We toddled along and enjoyed hearing
some of issues raised by the speakers (Mark Thompson,
Nick Bell, Lucienne Roberts and Ken Garland) whilst it
was a joy to watch Daniel Eatock perform his 'NO' list.

Whilst we were kicking around town we popped across
to the Design Museum where, we enjoyed the exhibition
of work by the late Alan Fletcher (co.founder of Fletcher
/Forbes/Gill and Pentagram) - inspiring stuff and definitely
worth a look.

Golden Pixil Awards 2005
Sweet were the winners of a Golden Pixil Award 2005
for ‘Best still image created using new media’.
The perspex awards were handed out during a ceremony
held at The Point, Cardiff Bay on 15 December 2005.

Shift Exhibition & Calendar 2006
Shift, the Japanese on-line magazine, has selected
‘Microsea’ by Jonathan Morris to be exhibited at its
exhibition at SoSo Gallery in Sapporo, Japan.
The piece was then reproduced and featured in
the Shift calendar, which showcases the best
designs from around the world.
